Think Inside the Box

In this workshop, improvisation exercises and games will prepare you for “the box.” You will be presented with an actual box from which you will pull all of the makings of a One Act. Expect the unexpected. You will utilize your acting, singing and creative skills to the nth degree

For students entering grades 7 - 12

Sessions: Monday June 7, Tuesday June 8 and Thursday June 11 from 10:30a.m. to 2:30p.m.

Express Yourself!

Deliver your monologue or song with absolute authenticity!
In this intense workshop you will select a song and deliver it as a monologue, then overlay the melody for a truly authentic expression. If you prefer, you can find a compelling monologue and learn the basics of pacing, projection, and enunciation, then delve deeper to find context for your piece.
Then, BAM! you have the perfect audition piece; an encapsulated bit of theatre that powerfully conveys your character’s story to directors and audiences.

Make a Scene!

Duets, trios, and quartets from musicals abound in this workshop. “Superboy and the Invisible Girl,” from Next to Normal, “My Junk” from Spring Awakenings, “Fugue for a Tinhorn” from Guys & Dolls, “Run, Freedom, Run” from Urinetown, plus suggestions from participants are just some of the possible songs that will prove to be cutting edge or rollicking fun. You will learn to relate to other actors as though the song was merely a dramatic extension of the vivid dialogue.
